DEAR SPRING, WHERE YOU AT?

I’m in utter confusion when it comes to putting outfits together these last few weeks. It IS spring, but it’s not reallllly spring…It’s been in the upper 50’s, sometimes mid 40’s in NYC.  I’d love to pull out all the stops and start whipping up delightful fresh new spring outfits.  However, lately I’ve been resorting to booties, light sweaters, and jeans until spring decides to wise up.

Ok, I’m done with my weather rant.  Easter Sunday last weekend turned out to be a pretty gorgeous day.  This obviously gave me that push to wear a fun floral dress.  I mentioned in earlier posts that the midi skirt (aka a skirt that hits your mid-calf), is really huge right now.  Skirts and dresses that are on the longer side are perfect for spring and can be styled in countless ways.  I’m mildly obsessed.  Not to mention, they can be super flattering for the ol’ waistline.

For this look, I tried to keep things simple pairing with ankle lace-up booties, leather backpack, and minimal jewelry.  The great thing about a dress like this is you can go two ways in terms of styling.  You could totally pair this piece with a cropped leather jacket to make it edgy or oversized cardigan for a softer look.  I wore this to Easter brunch and day drinks in meatpacking but this dress would be perfect in a work setting, a visit with family, or errands.  Talk about versatility.  Now, if spring would just stop being such a you know what…
