A close friend of mine just landed her dream job at a creative agency in NYC, and told me she wanted to update her look. Her and I completely agree that it’s so crucial in this industry (and in any profession for that matter) to look the part, so to speak. I mean, you can walk into a room and own it simply by wearing the perfect statement blazer or a killer pair of heeled booties. It’s all about how you play up that one piece. I find it extremely important to have beautiful staple items that you can utilize with the rest of your closet throughout your workweek to change your look. Above are some links to items that will help you look impeccably polished and professional for spring.
Black Skirt – There are a million varieties and almost every brand will carry a simple black skirt. I love a flared version paired with a tucked in blouse. This is a perfect look for spring. Just make sure your skirt hits just above the knee or lower to keep it appropriate people. Remember, the midi skirt is also VERY in. Lastly, when in doubt, go with a black pencil.
Black Skinny Pants – Need I say more? These are a must. I wear mine at least twice during the workweek.
Chambray Shirt – These are SO versatile and you can pair with a skirt, pants, shorts, or tucked into a maxi skirt.
Light-weight Sweater – These are so classic and necessary in this weird transition between winter and spring when your office AC is blasting, yet temperatures are climbing. Talk about confusion.
“The” Black Blazer – There are so many varieties and ways to go here. Try not to get lost! Just make sure you find one with a flawless cut. The right tailored fit is key.
Basic Black Dress – This piece is timeless and can absolutely work across industry. You will likely need a dress similar to the one pictured above at some point. Easily dress this up with a grey or colored blazer, or dress it down with an oversized sweater or cardigan.
Flirty Fun Spring Pieces – Yes, I said flirty 🙂 The pieces pictured above can mix and match with a variety of fun spring pieces that you can easily find. Mix things up with a floral or polka dot blouse or pair with a leather jacket and colorful scarf. I’m also really into the trouser pant right now and anything menswear. You can’t go wrong.
