A MUNCHKIN BABY SHOWER

I absolutely loved planning my sister’s baby shower this fall.  My mom and I hosted about 20 of my sister’s close friends at her home in Maryland.  Since she had just hosted a halloween / birthday party for about 30 kids (I’m exhausted just thinking about that) we kept with the fall theme and left some pumpkin decorations up around the house.  Quickly, our theme became somewhat of a fall chic type of feel.  Since my sister didn’t want to know the sex of the baby, the fall theme and colors ended up working perfectly for this party.

To me, no party is complete without some kind of signature cocktail.  It really adds a personal touch.  If you do it right, guests will forever remember the delicious cocktail that you designed for your summer BBQ, or for the pre-game of your girlfriend’s bachelorette party.  In general, it just magnifies your hostessing skills by like 10X.  Plus, who doesn’t like a custom cocktail?

I found a few apple cider sangria recipes around the web and ended up going with the recipe found below.  The recipe called for ginger brandy.  I don’t know about any of you, but I’ve definitely never had ginger brandy before (although I imagine it’s delicious).  It was also impossible to find in Baltimore.  I ended up using regular ol’ brandy which worked well with the pinot grigio. I filled glasses with cut up pieces of pears, apples and ice cubes.  Lastly, I topped each glass with a little bit of cinnamon or pumpkin spice.  Guys, this stuff went FAST and was a huge hit.  I highly recommend for any kind of fall gathering you might have.  The great part is that you can really tweak the recipe however you like, and just taste test till perfect 馃檪
